About Our Philanthropy
Our philanthropy is supporting Domestic Violence Awareness. As a chapter, we work closely with a local organization, Alternative to Violence of the Palouse (ATVP) by setting up different fundraising events throughout the year. This organization provides help to women who suffer through domestic violence. This organization provides women of the Palouse a way out of violent and or unhealthy relationships. This organization provides counseling and housing for women but also can give women specific things they may need to get out of Pullman to start somewhere new. This organization also puts on a presentations for members in our chapter to explain the signs of domestic violence whether physically or mentally.
Our main philanthropic events to support this organization are Donut let love hurt during the week of Valentines Day and French Fries with Alpha Chi's during the fall semester. During Healthy Relationships Week we also put on small events on campus to raise awareness and money towards ATVP. Another event we put on is G.I. Alpha Chi. Other chapters on campus participate in an obstacle course against each other. We also host Alpha Chi King which raises food donations for ATVP. |
Healthy Relationships Week
Healthy Relationships Week is the week of Valentines Day. As a chapter, we put on events on campus to raise awareness towards Alternative to Violence of the Palouse, our local philanthropy. This week is all about the development of healthy relationships, and by doing so, prevent domestic violence and sexual assault. #HealthyAXOLove #LoveIs |
Donut Let Love Hurt
Donut Let Love Hurt takes place in the spring semester during healthy relationships week! As a chapter, we sell donuts out of our kitchen on greek row. All the money raised gets donated to ATVP (Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse) in support of Domestic Violence Awareness. This year, we raised $800+ from just this event alone! |
All about ATVP
Alternatives To Violence of the Palouse is a local organization we work closely with. ATVP empowers individuals affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and abuse. ATVP educates and raises awareness in hopes to create a safe and equitable community. Three to four million women in the United States are subject to domestic violence every year. The money we raise through each philanthropic event gets donated to ATVP. They use this money to help buy action items for people in need. ATVP provides 14 hour emergency and support services to family and sexual violence victims and survivors. They also provide confidential, free services without discrimination, and have an outreach and education program that focuses on increasing awareness. The month of October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we as a chapter, hope to raise awareness and educate our campus and community.
